Here it is, my very first piece to grace a runway - a truly exhilirating moment for an emerging designer. Last year, I styled a collection for recycled clothing chain Value City titled "Eco Chic" that was extremely well-received @ Fiji Fashion Week. This year I show my debut "rajan" limited edition collection @ Fiji Fashion Week in December (exact date TBC).
Spotted at Nad's Handicraft in Nadi, this spoof tee of the Hard Rock Cafe Fiji. Is the Hard Work plus Fijian meant to be ironic or they suggesting Fijians are hard work (and before anyone get's riled up, I'm using the term Fijian in the broader sense of the word, i.e. as citizens of Viti, we're all Fijians)... and does it surprise anyone that the "illustrated" Fijian in question looks more Indonesian - complete with a batik style sarong? What are the chances this tee was bought in bulk from China?
Blogger is on assignment in the sleepy coastal township of Savusavu and is seriously considering marrying a cute Kailoma cowboy, ditching the big city and playing farm wife...
Hmmmmn but in the words of Saint Mariah...
"(But it's just a) sweet, sweet fantasy, baby
When I close my eyes
You come and you take me
(On and on and on)
So deep in my daydreams
But it's just a sweet, sweet fantasy, baby"
Back to reality Thursday.
Crazy Deadline Season has descended upon Blogger again so back to writing for food for a while. See you when I see you. XX
Valentino: The Last Emperor, the fashion documentary about the recently retired great Italian couturier by Vanity Fair's Matt Tyrnauer will be out next week at IMDVD. Chris Caine has also ordered The September Issue about the making of the September 2007 edition of American Vogue, the largest in the magazine's history and which closely follows Anna Wintour and 2nd-in-command Grace Coddington. This folks, is the real, Devil Wears Prada.
Apparently, there's a bit of story behind this signage!
